Pride of Hillcrest Block Party
Get ready San Diego, the Pride of Hillcrest Block Party is back, and this year it's a free event. The celebration is presented by San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU), Miller/Coors and Effen Vodka. This is an inclusive event which adheres to this year's theme: “Free to be you.”
This is an important theme, not only to commemorate 50 years of activism, protest and change since Stonewall, but the Block Party will also be free thanks to generous donations made by the community over the past year.
The Block Party will kick off San Diego Pride immediately following the Spirit of Stonewall Rally with a happy hour starting at 2 pm. People often take the day off or leave work early to have a cocktail or two, then grab a place at the Stonewall Rally to watch the awards show and listen to speeches made by dominant LGBT voices in the community.
As always Hillcrest will come alive with heart-thumping music and pop culture celebrity guests including stars from RuPaul's Drag Race such as San Diego's own Chad Michaels, with Morgan McMichaels and Mayhem Miller also providing the entertainment. Two more special guests will be announced soon.
And don't forget the many food trucks, laser light shows, and sexy go-go dancers. Add in the giant Ferris Wheel and a 65-foot Pride flag and the spirit of Pride is complete. Adults can enjoy a vodka cocktail bar and Miller-Coors beer garden.
The only way this massive event can take place free for attendees, is from donations made by the many people who understand the importance of community bonding, especially with LGBT youth who may not have a chance throughout the year to celebrate who they are.
All attendees need to register HERE.
Ticket options range from free to donation-based to VIP and meet-and-greet. They can be found HERE.
Those under 21 will not be allowed in places where alcohol is sold.
