Friday, October 6th 2017 8:00pm

The Trevor Project is offering a limited number of tickets to the play “The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey,” which The New York Times called “superlative,” at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 6, at the Old Globe Theater in Balboa Park.

More details

The ticket price includes admission to the play, a donation to the Trevor Project, and a post-show reception where you can enjoy refreshments and meet James Lecesne, the co-founder of the Trevor Project and the playwright and solo performer of the play.

Lecesne wrote the screenplay for the Academy Award winning short film “Trevor,” which went on to inspire the founding of the Trevor Project, the only nationwide 24-hour suicide prevention and crisis intervention helpline for LGBT and questioning youth.

The New York Times called Lecesne one of “the most talented solo performers of his (or any) generation” and said the play “leaves you beaming with joy.” Lecesne plays a New Jersey detective investigating the disappearance of a teenager named Leonard Pelkey. As he digs deeper and deeper into Leonard’s life, he brings to life the inhabitants of a seaside town who awaken to the beauty of being different.
