Good news for those of you who plan on imbibing a cocktail or two, while hitting up more than one bar, club, party or event this coming San Diego Pride weekend (which I suspect is a rather large percentage of the people who read this blog): The schedule for the San Diego Pride party shuttle has been announced! This year, there’ll be rotating limo buses running on Saturday and Sunday nights of Pride weekend, with pickups approximately ever 20 minutes from 11 different locations:

The limo buses are free to all holders of the San Diego Pride VIP Pass, as well as individual ticket holder to both the Popsicle Pride and Salvation Pride parties downtown at 4th and B. Without having to worry about parking and driving safety issues, using this service is a great way to make Pride weekend less stressful while you’re bar hopping about!
Speaking of bar hopping, here’s what my pre-Pride plans for the coming week are shaping up to be:
As I mentioned here a couple weeks ago, the Guys Like Us (GLU) Pool Party will be this Saturday, from noon to 6pm, at a private estate in Del Cerro. DJ Luis Perez will be spinning, and tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door (which is not a bad deal at all, considering that all food and drinks are covered in the price of admission!), with proceeds to benefit GLU’s Aids Walk fundraising drive.
And on Saturday night we have the first of the many “pre-Pride” or “Pride kickoff” parties coming up this week, with Global Male promoter Laur Darell presenting the Eye Candy Pre-Pride Party at Numbers. Featuring hip-hop and top 40 music vids brought to you by resident DJ Marcel Hetu, 10 of the hottest Eye Candy go-go boys from LA & SD, and a special lighting show never before seen at Numbers. In addition, there’ll be prize giveaways from Mankind Video and House Boi, as well as a pair of those limo-enabling San Diego Pride VIP Passes I mentioned above. Doors open at 10pm, with half cover before 11p.
On Sunday, the pre-Priding continues with the Pre-Pride Flip-Flop Rewind Party at Rich’s, 10pm to 2am. The music will flip-flop this night, with DJ Marcel Hetu spinning dance in the front room, and DJ John Joseph serving up hip hop in the back. Look for Pride ticket giveaways here too, as well as a large “graffiti wall.”
On Tuesday we go from pre-Prides to Pride kickoffs, with the San Diego Pride ‘Dirty Jock’ Kickoff Party at The Flame. And jocks there should be aplenty: There’s no cover for players in San Diego’s LGBT sports leagues wearing their jersey or league t-shirt, and anyone wearing any sort of sports gear will get a drink ticket. And on top that, there’ll be an open Svedka bar from 10 to 11pm, music by DJ Micheal Paul and DJ Luis Perez, and more Pride party ticket giveaways.
Pride kicks off yet again on Wednesday with the Monster Ball San Diego Pride Kickoff Party at Rich’s, hosted by Davina Kostiana Love. DJ Luis Perez will be spinning, and Davina will be presenting another one of her awesome Lady Gaga performances at midnight (you can view photos from her previous Monster Ball show here).
And finally, on Thursday it’s the The San Diego Pride WET Foam Party at Bourbon Street. The foam starts flowing at 10pm, and the weekly Wet Contest begins at midnight. It’s a free event, so it should be packed … although since it’s one of the Official Pride Events of the weekend, people with those aforementioned San Diego Pride VIP Passes will get priority entry.
So there you have it: The GLU Pool Party, and a whole weeks worth of pre-Priding and kickoff-ing. Hmmm … is it my imagination, or is Pride becoming a bit like the Christmas season, beginning earlier and earlier? How much Pride can a person take? Is there danger of Pride fatigue setting in? Well, not for me, anyways…bring it on, I say!
