Donate blood, and fight for the “Right to Save”! – LOCATION CHANGE!
by: Ben Cartwright | Community Connections | June 29th, 2009**note location change below**
We deserve the ‘right to save’!
The FDA continues to have an archaic policy on the books that bans men who have sex with men (MSM) from donating blood. This rule was created 20+ years ago when testing for viruses was not as advanced as it is today, and there is no reason for it to remain. While recognizing the importance of donating blood and to protest this policy, the San Diego Equality Campaign has teamed up with Dyke March San Diego, Stonewall Young Democrats, and the American Red Cross for the “Right to Save” blood drive!
The event will be held on Saturday, July 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at **University Christian Church, located at 3900 Cleveland Ave. in Hillcrest.**
Anyone who is eligible to donate blood is encouraged to do so on behalf of someone who can not. Advance sign-ups are needed, so please e-mail sarabrooks@gmail.com to sign-up for an appointment or for more information!
