Don’t Be Scared! It’s Just Halloween Time!

I just can’t seem to get it through my head that we are almost halfway through October. That means it’s time to figure out what to do for halloween in San Diego. This year, Halloween is on a Friday which means most of us don’t have to worry about working the next morning. There are many different events going on this year for Halloween in San Diego. Here is a list and description of what’s going on to help us all decide what to do.

Halloween 1

1. Nightmare on Normal StreetThe Center continues with it’s successful event on Normal between University and Blaine. It starts at 7 pm and runs until 10 and is a 21+ event. The cost is $5 per person and all proceeds go to fund the Centers 40+ programs. It is always a great event and all of us at SD Pix will be there taking pictures of you and your friends in all your Halloween gear! www.thecentersd.org/nightmare.

2.  Femme Fatale Costume Ball on The Prado1549 El Prado, San Diego, CA

DJ Here puts on the annual Femme Fatale costume ball on Halloween.

3. The Haunted Trail - The Haunted Trail is located at Marston Point in Balboa Park. It is a fun place to go with big groups who want to be scared. I have been there and had a couple of friends who got so scared they cried. Not an event for kids. The haunted trail is open now through Halloween. For more information go to www.hauntedhotel.com

4. The Haunted Hotel - Located at 424 Market St in the Gaslamp District. Run by the same company that runs the haunted trail, the Haunted Hotel is a terrifying tour through a real haunted victorian mansion. I have never been to the Haunted Hotel, but have heard it is not for the weak of heart. For more information go to www.hauntedhotel.com.

5. Mira Mesa Monster Manor - 2482 San Diego Ave, San Diego, CA 92126. I know many of you think Mira Mesa is a day trip away from Hillcrest, but it is really only 15 minutes. Started several years ago by the Mira Mesa Theatre Guild, this 4000 square foot haunted house run completely by volunteers is a must see. If you have younger members in your family, have no fear because this year the have Lite Fright. For more info go to www.monstermanor.org

6. The Whaley House - Located on San Diego Ave in Old Town, the Whaley House is the original home of the Whaley family. It housed a granary, the County Court House, San Diego’s first commercial theater, various businesses including Thomas Whaley’s own general store, a ballroom, a billiard hall, school, and polling place. The Whaley House is registered with various organizations including The Travel Channel’s America’s Most Haunted as the #1 most haunted house in the United States. For more information about their special Halloween events go to www.whaleyhouse.org/halloween.

These are just a few of many examples of things to keep you busy this Halloween. The rest is up to you to decide, but please, whatever you decide, make sure to be safe and don’t drink and drive.

Happy Halloween San Diego!
