Until There is A Cure!! AIDS Walk San Diego!!

As many of us may or may not know, this Sunday is one of the most important annual events in San Diego. That event is AIDS Walk San Diego and I can not express in words just how important an event this is. As a person living with HIV since I was 21 years old, AIDS Walk is something that is something near and dear to my heart and my health.

Every year, thousands upon thousands of San Diegans wake up early or just don’t bother to go to bed at all so they can get to Balboa Park early and be a part of the fight for a cure. Many are there with their company, church, temple or group of friends. All have worked hard to get donations to help with critical research for people in our community living with this horrible disease.

After over 25 years, there is still NO CURE for HIV/AIDS. Although those of us living with the disease can now live a normal life expectancy (due to drugs) they are NOT A CURE!! Every month is San Diego County, there are 26 new cases of HIV/AIDS reported. That is completely unacceptable. For current CDC statitstics about HIV, please click of the link. The theme of AIDS Walk San Diego is Until There is a Cure, We Will Keep Walking! I hope we all think that way. It is not too late to donate and/or walk. Visit AIDS Walk SD to get more information or to sign up. Even if you can’t donate, come walk with us to help show the world that this disease has not gone away and that we will not settle for anything less than a cure!!

Don’t wanna walk? Come get your picture taken with your friends for free and take home a memory of the day as a gift from all of us at SD Pix Magazine and sdpix.com. See you bright and early Sunday morning!!

When was the last time you got tested? If it has been more than 6 months, then it has been too long. It is easy to find an anonymous testing site near you. Just click here —–> Find A Test Site
